Volunteer Opportunities

We're grateful for our committeed volunteers. Every year they generously contribute over 2,000 hours helping both youth and staff.

Volunteer with Youth

Must be 21 or older and commit to volunteering weekly.
  • Assist youth with their employment and/or education goals (homework, resume, job search, job application, interview skills).

  • Provide youth with job training at Lindy's bakery (set a good example, model effective communication, help bake and package dog treats, assist with cleanup).

  • Facilitate an activity (sports, crafts, movie, meals) for youth in our shelter or housing programs.

Volunteer with Staff

Must be 18 or older.
  • Provide administrative support (filing, data entry, copying, phone calls).

  • Help maintain the buildings and grounds (cleaning, painting, yard work).

  • Sell/market Lindy's dog treats (attend farmers markets and summer festivals, make phone calls).

  • Join our Speakers Bureau and represent Daybreak at community events.

How to Become a Volunteer at Daybreak

  • Complete our volunteer interest form and send or email to Sean Mitchell (you'll find the addresses on the form).

  • Come in for interview with Daybreak's volunteer coordinator.

  • Undergo a background check, including fingerprinting.

  • Attend required training, if needed.
  • Schedule a start date.

Opportunities for Groups to Volunteer

We often have projects for small groups of volunteers. Please contact Sean Mitchell at 937-395-4600 ext. 126 to find out more.

Please Note...

  • We allow youth ages 14-17 to volunteer at Lindy's only if a parent/guardian is present.

  • We accept student volunteers only on the recommendation of a professor or university program.

  • We do not offer court-appointed or short-term volunteer options.
